As the 36th India International Trade Fair (IITF), 2016 kicked off on Monday with the inauguration by the President Shri Pranab Mukherjee, the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) opened its mega showcase at Pragati Maidan. Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Minister of Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, inaugurated the ‘CSIR Platinum Jubilee Techno Fest’ inside the Hall No 12-A at Pragati Maidan.
The Techno Fest unfolded various contributions of CSIR at its 14 theme pavilions, including Water, Aerospace & Strategic Sector, Energy, Leather, Healthcare and Generics among many others. Dr. Harsh Vardhan visited each theme pavilion and interacted with the labs’ directors and scientists.
Dr. Harsh Vardhan said, “This Techno Fest is an Opportunity for the young students, scientists and the common people to come under one roof and witness the knowledgebase of achievements and researches by CSIR.”
The S&T Minister also Unveiled the brochures of the thematic areas at the exhibition and keeping to the overall theme of the event, Digital India, launched a Micro Site of ‘CSIR Platinum Jubilee Techno Celebrations’.
Dr. Girish Sahni, Director General CSIR in an interaction with the media said, “This (Techno Fest) is a matter of pride and satisfaction. It is an honest attempt to make people aware about the contribution of CSIR scientists, that what they have offered for the life of the masses. Showcased under 14themes, all the 38 labs of CSIR contributed to nurture the pavilions at Techno Fest, presenting CSIR efforts to solve the issues of the common Indian. We are looking forward to contribute more with every passing year.”
Speaking about the challenges of the organization, he added, “Our objective is to not only create intellectual property but to channelize it for the growth of the layman. The scientists form one lab is experiencing about the work of their sister labs of CSIR. This Techno Fest is a great opportunity to come out with solutions for every basic scientific query that can enhance the living standard of the people in India.”
This Techno Fest will run till 27th November. Each day has different themes-based activities.
